Auckland Live Trip

Art Show

On Monday 13th of June, room 7 and 9 from Glenbrae School went to Auckland's Town Hall to watch shows and work in workshops about Musical Arts as a part of our topic this term. Arriving there in a bus we hopped off thanking the bus driver and then into 1 single file line with Teachers in the back and front of us.

Feeling welcomed into the hall we brought our bag in and then was told to leave it at the back of the hall. Into 2 lines room 7 formed at the back of room 9, room 7 girls lined infront first then boys behind. In came a man who introduced himself and schedule us for the day also grouped us in 1 or 2, our class was split from room 9 and were numbered 2 with a school class from Glendon Park School, they were all girls even some were wearing make-up.

Anyways, our first show/station was performed by a group of members called Java. These members did a show for us and it was very amazing because there balance and tune of beat was very fantastic. After the show we were split into 4 groups and were a sound to do physically with our partners, after making a physical sound with our partner we performed it. I enjoyed the sounds and beats we performed from this station but suddenly we had have morning tea.

After a good morning tea we moved on to our next session in Aotea Square with Te Rehia Theatre. We watched a short snippet of what they will be doing on there tour later on. Just before leaving we played some theatre activities with them.

We are warming up.

Talking to us about what we will be doing.

Warming up again.

Lunchtime came and it was time to leave. Walking out of the building and into the same hall we started from, we could bring our bag with us or just our lunch, most of us brought our bags with us. Eating our lunch and playing Bull rush with the boys from our school and other school joining in we played all together and it was fun. Suddenly leaving lunch we left to our last session.

Going back into the building we went for our last session which is looking at visual art using Mata Mata 2.0 in limelight. We had to buddy up with a partner to try and copy the man on the screen. So if you were to step up it will move faster. We eventually had to leave.

Malia Introducing the art.

Luisa, Mele and Maara having a go at Mata Mata 2.0.

Everyone enjoyed the workshops and stations we participated in and watching shows, also getting to know the girls from Glendon Park school. We all learnt something new from the workshops/stations, I learnt that when you go up on stage to play a character or more the best colour to wear is black because it suits the mask or character your playing at that time.

This was a great day for us. I also enjoyed the trip. Art is a very exciting part of life. We can use Art to express so much about ourselves.
