Native Bush/Plant/Tree:
* SLIVER FERN :
The Sliver Fern is a icon to represent our mighty All blacks and other sports like the the Black Caps and even a netball team named after it and the icon on it, Sliver Ferns. The Sliver Fern is named like that because when you turn the fern over it is Sliver and it is shape from the longest leaf in two lines to the shortest leaf to none.
* KAURI TREE:
The mighty Kauri Tree is famous for it's hugeness and known for the longest living tree in the forest and can only grow in the North Island of New Zealand. When a Kauri Tree is cut down or dies you can discover Kauri Gum underneath the soil where there you have to be digging.
*CABBAGE TREE:
The Cabbage Tree is one of the most distinctive trees in New Zealand landscape, especially on farms. They grow all over the country but prefer wet areas.
*HARAKEKE/FLAX:
The Harakeke known as Flax is helpful. They are used for medicines and you will find something feeling like gel or jelly where the flax grows. There are two types of flax common flax - Harakeke and mountain flax - Whakariki.
